Allen Ernest Winter (8 December 1903 – 8 July 1997) was the long serving second Anglican Bishop of the former Diocese of St Arnaud[1] in north-west Victoria.[2]
He was born on 8 December 1903,[3] educated at Melbourne Grammar School and University College, Oxford and ordained in 1928.[4] He began his career as a Curate at Christ Church, South Yarra[5] then St James’, Ivanhoe.[6] After this he held incumbencies at Sunshine, Brighton and Essendon. From 1948 he was a Canon Residentiary at All Saints’ Cathedral, Bathurst until his elevation to the Episcopate.[7] He died on 8 July 1997.
